Working with change

I have found that whilst change is exciting for some and interesting for many, the concept of changing teaching practice towards the 21stC is terrifying for the remaining few. The teachers who have been the most reluctant to change are even more resistant to the people who are ‘on board.’ The best way to reach the reluctant starters is to allow them to see the work of the other teachers. However I have recently noticed that there is no point showing the truly innovative and excellent 21stC pedagogies and the creative outcomes that have been made by the students. The way that the technically reluctant have begun to take the first step, is through ‘substitution.’ By allowing the teachers to perform the tasks they are already doing in a new environment it has allowed a first step into the ‘world of the 21stC literate.’
