SOCRATIVE

Today in PL we used a combination of ipads, smartphones and computers to use Socrative. All teachers made a quiz and then we all logged into each others rooms to do each others quizzes. Please see our comments below.

I am too confused. Made a quiz, seems I need a lot of practice to figure out what to do. Rema

I believe it will be useful technological tool and most of the students will find it interesting and will be engaged with the activity ( constant supervision will be necessary of course)

I was able to write a question and send it to student “Kevin”. Kev answered the question correctly.
    Well done Kevin!
This activity was worthwhile and can see its use in the classroom.

    What we did:
We downloaded Socrative Teacher and Socrative Student onto our smart phones.
We then went to the Socrative site and set up a log in and created a quiz.
After that various staff members created quizzes and we each did quizzes from our fellow staff members.
When we completed the quiz we were able to download the results as an Excel file to see how the ‘students’ performed.

I feel a 10 question quiz, would probably be a great thing for students to do in class. There would be a short amount of prep time required to make 10 questions (probably about 10 mins). The original loading of the application in class would also take most students 5 to 10 mins. Once loaded this application could be used many times.

It would be a great way to be able to quiz students on a regular basis and engage them in using their mobile devices in class for Maths. I will complete my special numbers quiz and get my year 7 class to do it. Will Blog again then :)

Diagnostic tests could be set up using the scambled button, which students then can do in their own time, and then the returned excell sheet can be used for quide then as to what to concentrate on for revision.
