In my new role as deputy principal I am aiming to build professional trust and challenge staff to embrace change as we drive the implementation of a new curriculum. Allowing staff to voice concerns and seek assistance, at the same time as empowering them to take professional responsibility for their learning and the learning journey of their students is instrumental to my role as we face the challenge of educating 21stC learners in a 21stC classroom.
The first change is supporting the AP’s in changing the format of stage meetings to add professional learning and sharing round the embedding of 21stC skills. Staff will be required to report back at a stage level on how they are embedding a specific skill and what technologies they have used to assist. This is to focus teachers on skills they will be embedding using the new programming tool.
Over the next week we will be looking at the technology budget to look at infrastructure and hardware that is required as we move forward.
